At Inspired Minds we offer a variety of workshops designed to enhance your quality of life. Our workshops are educational, interactive, experiential and offer concrete skills and strategies that you can integrate into your current life. Workshops are offered throughout the year in a variety of formats (one day, 4-6 week series and/or weekends).
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills Group
This 15 week DBT skills group is 1x/week for 3 hours and is intended to introduce participants to:
- mindfulness
- distress tolerance
- emotion regulation and
- interpersonal effectiveness skills.
This group is psycho-educational in nature and provides opportunity for experiential practice. Homework is assigned and reviewed each week.
Wednesday evenings 5:30p.m. – 8:30p.m. or
Thursday mornings 9:00am-12:00p.m.

Understanding DBT and Emotion Dysregulation
This 6-hour workshop is aimed to assist the parents, siblings, loved ones and/or professional of individuals who experience emotion dysregulation, borderline personality disorder and/or who are participating in a DBT program. This workshop will provide an overview of DBT as well as strategies to help you organize and understand complex problem behaviour from a DBT perspective; develop an understanding of your loved one’s problems; apply DBT skills to your own emotional responses; learn how to support someone learning the DBT skills and manage your own stress by learning how to set and maintain boundaries. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and problem solve your specific areas of concern. The cost of this workshop is $389. September 16, 23, & 30, 2024; 4:30pm-6:30pm.
Trauma Sensitive Movement Series
This 6 – week series is for individuals who want to use movement to develop a more positive relationship with their bodies, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall well-being. Trauma center trauma sensitive yoga is a therapeutic approach developed to support individuals who have experienced trauma. It prioritizes creating a safe and empowering environment, emphasizing choice and body autonomy.
Approach:

- Interoception: Encourages participants to notice and experience internal bodily sensations, helping them reconnect with their bodies.
- Non-Coercive: Instructors offer invitations rather than directives, allowing participants to choose what feels right for them.
- No Physical Assists: To ensure safety and respect personal boundaries, physical adjustments are not used.
- Mindfulness: Practices focus on present-moment awareness, fostering a sense of grounding and safety.
Facilitated by Janis Isaman from Body Couture. Janis’s trauma credentials include the Compassionate Inquiry® psychotherapy approach developed by Gabor Mate, Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), Somatic Experiencing® International developed by Peter Levine and Trauma Research Foundations Traumatic Stress Certificate Program with Bessel van der Kolk. Some of her exercise, bodywork and movement certifications include STOTT Pilates, Yamuna® Body Rolling, Paul Grilley yin yoga, Leslie Kaminoff Principles and Practice, Rainbow Yoga and Critical Alignment (CA) Yoga and Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) group
This 8-week program is designed for individuals who experience difficulties with sleep. CBT-I focuses on exploring the connection between the way we think, the things we do, and how we sleep. The facilitator helps to identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are contributing to the symptoms of insomnia and then clarify or reframe misconceptions and challenges in a way that is more conducive to restful sleep. Therapy techniques involve stimulus control, sleep restriction, and relaxation training. This program is facilitated by a registered psychologist and can be attended either virtually and in person. Wednesday evenings starting October 23 – December 11, 2024. 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m.. Investment $750, which includes the intake assessment that must occur prior to the start date.
